Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy

Varicose veins, particularly slightly deeper enlarged side branches, can be treated in suitable patients with ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy. In this procedure, a sclerosing agent is injected into the enlarged vein. This leads to damage to the endothelial cells and triggers inflammation of the innermost wall layer. As a result, the vein undergoes sclerosis and is transformed into a fibrous strand.
